Seems like a good price at least upfront but I’ve heard there are a lot of hidden fees with them and I’m concerned about the plywood boxes not being sturdy enough for a 3,000+ mile move. ![]() I’m trying to get a quote from U Haul for their U Boxes. When finished, well pick up your shell and deliver it to your new. They’re also almost completely booked but was able to reserve two of their cubes and they don’t charge for cancellation until the week of their scheduled delivery. When you work with Zippy Shell, well deliver a 15 container to your home that you can pack over three days. Once the company drops the container at your doorstep, you’ll have three days to load it. Each cube measures 70 x 82 x 93 and is capable of holding up to 2,500 pounds. They’re the most expensive option especially as 30 day storage is an additional fee. Made of sturdy metal, U-Pack ReloCubes offer customers a weatherproof and secure moving container option. They’ve sent me a ton of helpful info, very transparent about pricing and provide packing tips I didn’t know I was looking for. Was super happy with service so far getting a quote from U-Pack. We have pretty tight deadlines as we are moving from one rental to another and we can’t afford for the container to not get delivered on time. Got a quote from Zippy Shell and pleased with pricing and initial customer service, but turned off by all the reviews and skeptical of their use of third parties for storage and transportation. Was originally planning to use PODS but tried to book too late and they’re unavailable when we need one. Cost is obviously a major consideration when comparing moving companies. You’ll have to check with your local Zippy Shell location, but it’s likely that only the 15-foot containers will be available. ![]() Currently in a two bedroom and downsizing to one bedroom (plus basement storage). Zippy Shell advertises 10-foot containers on its website, but that size has severely limited availability. Moving from coast to coast in August and need a couple weeks of storage along with moving. TL DR: Would love to hear of others’ experiences (the good and the bad) with these companies or similar, esp.
